Sig Sauer Romeo 4XT-Pro on Unity Mounts

Searching the internet for information about the Sig Romeo 4T and 4XT Pro optics, you’ll find that–while the optics use the Aimpoint Micro footprint–they’re slightly taller than the Aimpoint T2. If you want to use these with a magnifier, the magnifier will need to line up with the optic, so let’s see how tall these optics actually are on Unity FAST mounts.

Sig Sauer Romeo 4XT-Pro

The Romeo 4XT Pro is a quad-reticle optic with top-mounted illumination controls (including a night vision mode button) and has a 50,000 hour runtime on a single AAA battery. It is IPX-8 rated for waterproof and fog proof performance.

Unity FAST Mounts

Unity Tactical makes the very popular FAST Micro Mounts which raise the centerline of an Aimpoint Micro-style optic from the 1.53″ of a lower 1/3 co-witness mount up to 2.26″.

Confirmed about 2 and a quarter inches from top of rail to center of optic.

This allows for more of a “heads up” shooting posture and greatly improves the ability to aim through your sight when wearing night vision or a gas mask in exchange for adding more height over bore.

The Romeo 4XT Pro sits a little high on the mount with its centerline coming in at just under 2.5″.

While the 4XT Pro is not as tall as the Aimpoint Duty RDS or the Aimpoint CompM5S, I decided to try it on Unity Tactical’s FAST MICRO-S mount, which is meant to put those taller optics at the 2.26″ height. On the MICRO-S, the 4XT Pro’s centerline sits at just about 2″.

Mounted on the Unity MICRO-S, you should be able to magnify the Romeo 4XT Pro using 1.93″ mounts from companies like Scalarworks and Arisaka. You can even add spacers to an existing magnifier mount to make it work (as shown here on Reddit).

In a future post, I’ll put a magnifier behind it (and review both the optic and the Arisaka high magnifier mount).
